The book begins with overviews of the installations used as "Führer Headquarters" (FHQ), those not used and those never completed. Then the reader is introduced to the four FHQs in the west: 1. "Adlerhoerst" - a castle as Hitler's FHQ; 2. "Felsennest" - Hitler's FHQ in the Eifel; 3. "Waldwiese" - a largely unknown former FHQ; 4. "Tannenberg" - an FHQ on the heights of the Black Forest.
The third section presents the FHQ "Tannenberg" in detail: Location, buildings, stay of the German leadership in June/July 1940, war diaries, further use until 1945 and the fate of the facility after 1945.
