This volume depicts the operational history of this multinational Waffen-SS unit with almost 40 high-quality photographs. It consisted of Germans, Danes, Dutch, Flemings, Walloons, Finns and Norwegians. As soldiers, they were among the best of the war. The Soviets feared their discipline, their comradely cohesion and their quiet professionalism. The account is supplemented by, among other things, a list of posts, crack drawings of German assault guns and tanks, a regimental breakdown and a list of holders of high honours from this unit.
