My frontline assignments with the "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler" and the 25th Waffen-Grenadier Division of the SS "Hunyadi". At the age of 17, the author volunteered for the Waffen-SS in 1941 and was soon in front-line service with the "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler" in Russia. After his first wounding, he served in the New Reich Chancellery, among other things as a workroom post in front of Hitler's study. He was also a member of the commando that retrieved the body of Reinhard Heydrich, who had fallen victim to an assassination attempt, from Prague.
