Geistgegenwart der Führer und Unterführer were the most important characteristics of the reconnaissance divisions. In armoured reconnaissance vehicles such as the Sd.Kfz. 234, on BMW and Zündapp motorbikes or with specially developed VW floats, they operated in their own apron or already behind enemy lines, always aware of encountering the enemy at any time. Equipped with powerful radios, they were able to report immediately on the presence, strength and combat readiness of the enemy. This book documents the operations of the reconnaissance units of the divisions of the Waffen-SS in the Second World War.
