Adolf Hitler's relationship with women was for a long time the object of conjecture, speculation and not infrequently fanciful embellishment. During the so-called "Kampfzeit", the NSDAP leader had influential older female admirers and patrons who furthered his political ambitions. Hitler had no time for a life companion in the true sense of the word. Party and state affairs, and later the military management of war operations, left him little time for private affairs. Nevertheless she existed, the woman at his side, albeit shielded from the public eye.
The author succeeded in interviewing numerous contemporary witnesses for his work: adjutants, secretaries, servants and soldiers.
