1814. The invasion of France has begun and the Royal Navy asks Major Richard Sharpe for support. He and his sharpshooters are to take and secure a fortress on the French coast. The dangerous undertaking succeeds, but due to the cowardice of a Navy Captain, Sharpe and his men suddenly find themselves alone against an overwhelming force. Defeat seems inevitable. Sharpe has no choice but to entrust all their fates to an American privateer, a man with whom he has clashed before.
