Volume 26 of the Imagenes de Guerra series. Formed only shortly before the Allied landings in Normandy in June 1944, the mostly young members of this division displayed unparalleled courage and great bravery in combat with the British and Canadian divisions in the Caen area, where they significantly delayed the Allied advance. Although the SS Division "Hitler Youth" was almost wiped out in Normandy, it still saw action in the Ardennes, Hungary and finally Austria after a brief refresher.
The eventful history of this unit calls for two volumes from this publication series; this first volume is devoted to the events from the formation of the 12th SS Panzer Division "Hitler Youth" to the conclusion of the Allied Operation "Goodwood". The second volume then covers the period from Operation "Totalize" to the end of the war in May 1945.
