Expanded reprint of the Naval Magnificence Album 1908 by k.u.k. Frigate Captain Alfred Koudelka and Alexander Kirchner. Emperor Franz Joseph was no particular friend of the Imperial and Royal Navy. Kriegsmarine. On his rare visits to the wartime port of Pola, the sea apparently reminded him of his trip to the Orient in 1869, where he almost became a victim of the tide when embarking off Jaffa.
For his 60th government anniversary, a magnificent naval album was therefore dedicated to him. It was written by frigate captain Alfred von Koudelka and illustrated with 25 colour plates by the first marine painter Alexander Kircher. Voyages of discovery, the fight against pirates, the glorious naval battle of Lissa, armoured ships and submarines pass by the reader and viewer - a proud chapter of Austrian history. The editors have continued the naval history, together with supplementary picture plates by Alexander Kircher, until 1918, when the pride of the imperial and royal navy, the battleship "Lissa", was taken out of service. Kriegsmarine, the battleship "Viribus Unitis", and with her Austria-Hungary sank.
