Description
The book covers the role of Austro-Hungarian cruisers in a war which would be the Empire's last, with meticulous accounts of the ships' armament, crew, armor, and the role they played in the Great War. Besides dealing with every major operation these ships participated in throughout the war, the book also covers several noteworthy events such as the sailors' mutiny in the Bocche di Cattaro in February 1918. It also includes the pre-war history of each cruiser the circumstances under which these ships were built, their previous missions (which stretched as far as Asia), and even the broader shipbuilding trends of the Austro-Hungarian Navy of the late 18th and early 19th century. Equipped with more than 250 photographs - many of which published for the first time ever - we beilive this book will be an interesting read for both naval history buffs and those who are curious to find out more about naval warfare in the Adriatic during WWI.
