Description
As Theodor Fontane noted in his "Wanderungen durch die Mark Brandenburg": "What dies in Sanssouci is buried in Bornstedt." High-ranking military officers, civil servants, ladies-in-waiting, architects, castellans and court gardeners such as Peter Joseph Lenné have found their final resting place in the over 400-year-old Bornstedt Cemetery in Potsdam. The listed cemetery and its picturesque church, built in 1857 by order of Frederick William IV, are unique testimonies to Brandenburg-Prussian history.
Renowned Potsdam photographer Monika Schulz-Fieguth has captured the various moods of this "last garden" in subtle images. Supplemented by texts by Klaus Büstrin, a thoughtful walk is thus undertaken, during which the old gravestones begin to tell stories.
