Despite the fact that there are many collectors of this weapon in Italy and even abroad, there is still no systematic study of its production with precise information on the serial number blocks and the sequence of manufacturers, of which there were many. Thanks to meticulous research, this gap has finally been filled, which also sheds light on the total quantities produced, which are surprising, to say the least.
In the years of the First World War alone, for example, 230000 Model 1889 revolvers were supplied to the Italian armed forces, a quantity far in excess of that of the more prestigious Beretta semi-automatic pistols. This book attempts to push the boundaries of knowledge on this fascinating subject a little further by analysing all the design variants, all the manufacturers, the individual 'principals' (such as the Guardia di Finanza), the production and repair techniques, the gun controls, the holsters, the accessories, the ammunition, the shooting methods and the training of the soldiers. In short, everything that revolved around the "world" of the 1889 revolver.
