Description
The Srcm hand grenade, introduced in 1935 after years of careful and sophisticated development for a very precise task: to surprise and stun the enemy in the critical phase of the final assault, saw itself forced to perform a variety of different tasks during WW2: Offensive bomb, defensive bomb, improvised booby trap and anti-personnel mine, defined for the sake of circumstance but unfortunately as "stuff that just makes noise".
Yet despite its inherent limitations, it performed its task honourably enough to justify its survival through the Cold War and into the turn of the 21st century. This book, which analyses both the development of the bomb, its manufacturers and design variants, and the special versions developed for training purposes or special tasks, is not only a tribute to the manufacturer but also a valuable tool for collectors who will be able to identify wartime and post-war components.
