Using accounts from former members of the unit as well as previously unseen photographs, the history of the German "Tiger" Battalion 503 in World War II is described. Both "Tiger" I and "Tiger" II were in service with this unit. Their missions included the attempted decommissioning towards Stalingrad, the "Citadel" operation and the operations to liberate German troops from the Cherkassy Cauldron. In the summer of 1944, the "Tiger" Battalion 503 was in action on the Normandy Front, ending the war during the desperate fighting in Hungary and Austria.
