Die Leipziger Straßenbahn in den Sechziger- und Siebzigerjahren

Following the great success of its illustrated book on the period between 1953 and 1965, the AG "Historische Nahverkehrsmittel Leipzig" e. V. is now continuing the history of the Leipzig tramway. In the mid-1960s, almost 900 railcars and sidecars were in operation on the second largest tram network in the GDR, serving 30 tram lines. The introduction of tram operation brought radical changes. The 1970s were marked by the discontinuation of lines, and later also of unprofitable lines. For this illustrated book, the authors have selected 230 previously unpublished photographs, some of them in colour, from the archives of numerous tram enthusiasts and from the collection of the working group. The photographs show the fleet of cars, encounters with other trams, changes to the route network or the 100th anniversary of the Leipzig tramway, but also the trolleybus service, which was discontinued in 1975. The colour section of the book completes the almost complete picture of Leipzig's tramway history in the 1960s and 1970s. This illustrated book invites the reader to a nostalgic tour of Leipzig's streets, which will awaken numerous memories, not only among tram enthusiasts.
