In diesem Buch wird der Versuch unternommen, die Entwicklung der camouflage patterned Felddienst-Bekleidung (Sommer) der bewaffneten Organe der DDR von etwa 1956 bis 1990 zu beschreiben und darstellen. The associated personal armament, equipment and apparatus are also roughly outlined. The early pieces up to about 1971 are dealt with in more detail. The following field service clothing of the 1970s and 80s as well as that of the Uniform Wear Test (UTV) 85-90 has been summarised.
The author Michael Krauß has illustrated the field service clothing in the order of the years of manufacture, whereby pieces of the same cut in the area camouflage pattern produced at the same time appear before those in the directional camouflage pattern. Thus, the field service camouflage pattern and the directional camouflage pattern overlap. The field service clothing of the paratroopers/scouts, the female members of the NVA and the generals are roughly in line with the conventional field service clothing.
