The "Innere Führung Handbook" graces the cover of this year's "Innere Führung Yearbook". With it, the editors point to the direction in which Innere Führung and its prescription should be further developed: Towards a leadership philosophy that places more emphasis on a comprehensive understanding of soldierly service, conveying background information and offering arguments, as well as stimulating reflection.

As in the build-up phase of the Bundeswehr, today it is once again a matter of clarifying the central concepts for soldierly service, focusing on the responsibility of the individual soldier, regardless of rank. The authors of this yearbook show in their contributions where there is a need for development. In doing so, it becomes clear that a mere update of the regulation from 2008 would by no means meet this need.
