Description
Clausewitz wrote more about history than about the theory of war. This book combines two essays: The first was penned by Hans Delbrück (1848-1929), an important historian and military-political critic of the Wilhelmine era. The second was written by Peter Paret, born in 1924, a well-known American historian of German descent. Both authors trace the reasons for and development of Clausewitz's historical interest, the way he examined and interpreted the wars of the past, and how his historical writings influenced his theory of war. This book, edited by Peter Paret, gives the reader a new perspective on the person and intellectual legacy of this extraordinary Prussian general.
