The anthology contains the individual "Durango" stories 10-12. He has long been a western legend: Durango, the true "lonesome" cowboy who shoots rather than chatting at length. Yet when he first appeared on the scene, he was almost an afterthought. John Wayne was already five feet under the ground, and the Italian western had permanently ploughed up the prairie. You can see that in Durango: His debut in particular owes a great deal to the two Sergios, Leone and above all Corbucci. But they had also packed their saddlebags in the meantime and moved on. Durango, however, came and stayed. Since then, many other deserving westerners have retired to the eternal hunting grounds, but Durango, the silent avenger, still finds no peace. And that is what counts in the end: Who stays in the saddle the longest. The vast plains of Arizona at the end of the 19th century. The feared gunfighter Durango rides alone and unmoved through the towns springing up like mushrooms in the frontier country on the hunt for outlaws. Armed with his famous Mauser automatic, he, known as the "peacemaker", does not shy away from circumventing the law and enforcing his own rights. When he lets powder and lead do the talking, dust and snow are coloured with blood.
