Sara is happy with the Kotsoteka Comanches, who affectionately call her "Nadua She Who Feels at Home." She has lived there with her son Tom for ten years. Her friendship with the warrior Tabananika is closer and stronger than ever. However, for a reason that remains hidden from Sara for now, Tabananika is acting distant towards her, and their friendship begins to crumble. Sara returns to Sunny Grove with her ten-year-old son Tom. There, she unexpectedly encounters her brother-in-law Robert, who makes advances towards her. Sara longs for the Comanches and doesn't know whether she should stay. Tom also feels lonely there and seeks distraction by riding out into the prairie. He suddenly comes across a detachment of soldiers. He secretly observes them and learns that they are marching against the Kotsoteka. Unfortunately, he is discovered in his hiding place. Standing before him is the army scout Crowfoot his father. But Tom is not pleased by this encounter. He manages to free himself and, in a breakneck ride, reaches the Kotsoteka village to warn them. Tom and his mother are put in grave danger.
