The end of a legend. Even the British enemy admired the courage and chivalrous fighting style of the "desert fox", who was considered a genius. Even today, Erwin Rommel appears to many as the epitome of the exemplary German soldier. Ralf Georg Reuth also shows the other Rommel - the man who remained loyal to his "Führer" until his forced suicide and whose fame was not least a creation of Joseph Goebbels.
Ralf Georg Reuth, born in 1952 in Upper Franconia, studied history as well as German and received his doctorate in 1983 on Hitler's strategy. He is a journalist and author of several books on the history and prehistory of the "Third Reich", but also on the fall of communism in 1989/90.
