Descriptionof Obersturmführer Klemens Behler. Vorgeschobener Beobachter mit Ritterkreuz
-
Manufacturer
This book describes the life of a typical German front-line officer in World War II and his further life after the war. The chronologically structured biography of Klemens Behler is embedded in the larger framework of the general war events, the post-war and peacetime periods. His youth, recruiting period, training at the Junkerschule and wartime operations are described in the context of the events of the time. Behler's experiences help us to understand the time in which he was placed.
The interesting circumstances that led to the creation of the most famous poster in Waffen-SS volunteer advertising are described in detail. During Behler's time as a recruit, the well-known painter Professor Anton was looking for a model for a new advertising poster - he found it in the young Behler. In 1941, Behler was painted by Otto Anton and soon the new advertising poster with Behler's likeness was seen all over the Reich. Numerous impressive photographs, most of them never before published, as well as reproduced documents and press reports round off this work of military history.
