As an infantryman to the Knight's Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was the highest award for bravery given to German soldiers in World War II. One recipient of this award was Korbinian Viechter. Here he describes his experiences during the years of war and captivity. He describes the fight as an infantryman in France and on the fronts in the East until the bitter end. As a further visible sign of his commitment, at the end of the war he wore, among other things, not only the Close Combat Badge in silver but also the Wounded Badge in gold, for a total of nine wounds suffered. Numerous b/w photos. 210 pages.
