Describes the life and work of Julien Lenoir, a well-known citizen of the Norman city of Caen who collaborated with the German occupation forces between 1940 and 1944. As deputy mayor, Lenoir was already attracted to nationalist ideologies in the 1930s. He was already sympathetic to the Nazi regime at that time. After a trip to Germany in 1941, Lenoir set up a collaboration group in his home country, which also recruited a kind of auxiliary force for the Gestapo in Caen.

After the Allied landings in Normandy and the destruction of Caen on 9 June 1944, Lenoir fled to Germany. When the Third Reich, which Lenoir had blatantly joined, fell to its knees, he tried to escape to Switzerland. He was caught, and eventually extradited to France and imprisoned in his home town of Caen in June 1945. Charged with high treason, Lenoir committed suicide on 15 August 1945, the day before the verdict against him was announced.
