A look at the history of French resistance to German occupation in WW2 through its development in a specific section of the Savoie region. It was in this region that the Chartreuse Battalion of the Resistance was formed, which was one of the best units of the French Resistance.
Its men did not hesitate to continue the war all the way to Germany, as part of the 9th Colonial Infantry Division of General de Lattre's 1st Army. The losses of Chartreuse's battalion testify to the strength of his commitment; a hundred dead and 550 wounded for a force of a thousand men is a clear sign. It is time to wrest its history from oblivion.
