Descriptionof Das Österreichische Bundesheer der Ersten Republik zwischen 1920 und 1930. Ein Heer, das keines sein durfte
-
Manufacturer
In accordance with the peace dictate, the Republic of Austria was only allowed to raise a professional army of 30,000 men, which was not allowed to have battle tanks and aircraft. Its operational value was therefore severely limited and serious national defence was not possible. In the first part, the book analyses the first 10 years of the existence of the Austrian Federal Army of the First Republic.
In the period between 1920 and 1930, the army suffered from a permanent shortage of personnel and also of money, so that the army had only slightly more than 22,000 men at its disposal and the defence budget did not permit any major investments. The second part is a reprint of a publication about the Austrian army, which was published in 1929 by the Federal Ministry of the Army and which was intended to promote the idea of defence among the people. It is, as far as the authors as non-witnesses are able to judge, an unvarnished account of the Federal Army of the first Republic of Austria.
