Description
Friedrich II suffered his worst defeat in the Seven Years' War not against Austria and the French, but against Russia at the Battle of Kunersdorf. The arrogance of the Prussian king and his schematic tactical approach threatened to lead to the downfall of his state. Only the major political and operational differences on the side of the enemy alliance prevented them from exploiting their success.
Thus Frederick II was able to continue the resistance in a seemingly hopeless situation and finally survive the war with his territory intact. With willpower, skill and luck, he survived the last years of the war until Russia's withdrawal from the opposing coalition, thus transforming the military disaster of Kunersdorf into a moral triumph in the end. A volume from the series "Battles - Stations of World History".
