Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, Prince of Wahlstatt (born 16 December 1742, died 12 September 1819) was a Prussian field marshal general and distinguished himself in important battles. His offensive command of troops earned him the popular epithet Marshal Forward, which was bestowed on him not by the Germans but by the Russians, who were allies in the wars of liberation at the time.
