In 1964, at the New York World's Fair, an attractively styled coupe designed specifically for teenage drivers was presented to the public and wowed visitors. On the first day of sales, the 8,000 available models had already been sold and a further 22,000 orders placed. The classic coupÃ© and cabriolet, which were initially only offered, were followed in 1965 by the 2+2 Fastback, a hatchback coupÃ©. All three types were offered with various engine options, including a 289 cubic inch (4.7-litre) eight-cylinder engine producing up to 275 bhp. The top speed of the long-running Mustang 2 +2 fastback was around 189 km/h, and acceleration from 0 to 100 was in 9.0 seconds.
