The Turkish government operates a small fleet of aircraft with VIP interiors for high-ranking government officials and the head of state. This includes a single Airbus A340-500 in the national colours of red and white. The 500 series was the ultra long-range variant of the Airbus A340 family of wide-body aircraft. Although it was never successful with commercial airlines and only 34 aircraft were built in total, the aircraft with its long range is still popular for government use today.
