After the two German states were reunited in 1990, the aircraft of the National People's Army Air Force were integrated into the Federal German Air Force. This also included the IL-62s of the 4th Squadron of the 44th Transport Wing used by the "government squadron", which were operated in the civilian livery of Interflug. Three Ilyushin IL-62s were given Bundeswehr identification and were used as so-called "official shuttles" by the Bundeswehr air force to transport officials from federal ministries between the old federal capital of Bonn and the new capital of Berlin. This Il-62MK, formerly registered as a DDR-SEP, was given the military identification 11+22. For use as a shuttle between Berlin and Bonn, the first class seating was converted to a closer seating arrangement, but the rest of the VIP equipment with the main lounge and sleeping lounge remained unchanged, probably also for budget reasons.
