Carl Spitzweg created over 1500 paintings and drawings. Spitzweg depicted people in the bourgeois milieu of his time. In small-format pictures, he depicted the Biedermeier petty bourgeoisie, oddball eccentrics and romantic events. He depicted human weaknesses, but not the wicked or the vulgar; Spitzweg was a stranger to anything coarse. - Wikipedia -
