Many of the modifications and innovations that were introduced on the Avro Manchester went on to be part of the mighty Lancaster, and the author Peter Allam has done a good job in identifying and explaining them all in the pages of this book. If you have even a passing interest in the Avro Lancaster then this is definitely a book for you.
Although badly let down by its Rolls-Royce Vulture engines, the Manchester was nevertheless a very modern design for its day and deserves its place on the bookshelf and, hopefully one day, on a modelling bench as well. As always, the makers have some superb high-resolution images throughout the book and have pulled out the shadow detail to really highlight the small vents and aerials that have been overlooked since WW2.
