This book is about the little-known participation of the so-called South African Free Corps on the side of the Germans at the outbreak of World War 1. As an independent fighting Boer unit within the German Schutztruppe, they supported the Boer rebellion in South Africa. Their aim was the old ideal of an independent Boer republic in South Africa. The book describes the activities from the formation of the Freikorps in 1914 until its disbandment in 1915.
