This book describes the history of French SS volunteers between 1943 and 1945. It looks at the political currents in France from whose ranks the mass of volunteers were recruited. It is clear that the motivations were very different and that Frenchmen also joined the NSKK, the Organisation Todt, the army and the navy, all of whom were ultimately bundled into the Waffen-SS.
The formation, deployment and end in Berlin in 1945 are documented in detail and with numerous unknown photographs.
