The book is, for the most part, a lively and fast-paced account of German history from the time when Charlemagne's Frankish Empire had disintegrated and the Saxons (then Lower Saxons), the German-speaking Franks, the Bavarians, and the Swabians were still not entirely in agreement about the future of their "East Frankish Kingdom" at the beginning of the 10th century. Riade, this book, titled "A Narrative of German History," is printed in A4 format due to its many, partly historical, maps and, with 64 glossy pages and 60 illustrations and maps, is very attractively presented.
