This booklet gets to the bottom of the myth of "silencers and silenced weapons": After introductory chapters on the historical development of silencers as well as on sound and hearing, a separate chapter explains the construction and effect of these devices. Further chapters deal with silencers in long and short-barreled weapons, as well as weapons with integrated silencers.
The reader also learns how the use of such silencers affects target ballistics. A further section is devoted to silencers in hunting and official/military practice. Extensive legal explanations describe the legal status of these noise absorbers and their parts, and also deal with aspects such as weapons law versus EU noise regulations. As always with the "Visier-Special" series, an extensive appendix with address details and further information rounds off the volume.
