Britain developed a variety of silenced firearms during World War II. By analysing recently declassified British government files, this book lifts the veil of secrecy and provides an interesting insight into the weapons technology of the time. For the first time in German, it offers an overview of the development and use of silencers in Great Britain during World War II. It analyses the extent to which such firearm accessories were already available at the outset of the war and examines the technical solutions with which British engineers achieved significant increases in silencing performance. It also introduces the forces for which these special weapons were intended and draws conclusions about their influence on Allied wartime tactics.
