After an introduction to the history and current status of the pistol family P.38/P 1, the publication deals with the technology of the weapon: On the one hand, it is about the complete disassembly and the correct naming of parts, on the other hand, it is about the scientifically presented functioning of the locking principle and repeating principle of the P.38 and its offshoots. Other articles deal with the development of this type of pistol and also with the designs of developers, some of whom have been forgotten today. Of course, the booklet also tells the story of the people who managed Walther in Zella-Mehlis and who worked on the P.38 there. Separate sections are devoted to the other manufacturers of the P.38 and the resulting variants as well as post-war versions.
