Tactics and technique are mutually interrelated. In principle, tactics determine technique and not vice versa. However, if there are drastic changes in the field of technology, the tacticians must evaluate them, draw conclusions for their own possibilities of action and - where it makes sense - make use of the new technologies.
This applies to armed forces and security forces in general and especially to military sniping. More powerful and more compact day and night vision technology or ballistic computers are coming onto the market at an ever increasing pace. There has also been a lot of progress in recent years with regard to new handgun calibres. From all this it can be concluded that there is a constant need for further tactical development. This applies to both effect and cover. Despite all progress, one constant remains: The precise hit at long range can lead not only to tactical, but even to operational and strategic success.
