The "Visier-Special" No. 83 is comprehensively dedicated to the "System Assault Rifle". After an introductory look at the historical developments and current conceptions, it deals with the components of this system. First of all, of course, there is the weapon. Thus, the volume presents the current and future assault rifles from Germany and abroad. Then there are the other components: Optics, laser light modules, silencers, bayonets and other peripheral equipment, ammunition, personal equipment and - last but not least - training. Other aspects such as networking, supply, functional principles and other weapon technology compatible with the assault rifle system are also covered.
Lightweight, handy, modular, sufficiently accurate and powerful - the assault rifle serves as the soldier's standard hand weapon in almost every armed force. In addition, the long rifle, which can fire either single or continuous fire, has been playing an increasingly important role in the police sector for some time. Current national and international development and procurement programmes show that a generational change is currently taking place. As usual, an extensive appendix with contacts in authorities and industry, references to museums, literature and internet sites as well as other additional information concludes the booklet.
