This illustrated book focuses on the following armoured SS units: 1st SS Panzer Division "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler", 2nd SS Panzer Division "Das Reich", 3rd SS Panzer Division "Totenkopf", 4. SS-Polizei-Grenadierdivision, 5th SS-Panzerdivision "Wiking", 9th SS-Panzerdivision "Hohenstaufen", 10th SS-Panzerdivision "Frundsberg", 11th SS-Freiwilligen-Grenadierdivision "Nordland" and the 12th SS-Panzerdivision "Hitlerjugend". In addition, several other units - also of the Wehrmacht - are represented with rare photos of vehicles and equipment. Separate chapters are devoted to the important battles at Schitomir, Cherkassy, Kamenz-Podolsk - Tarnopol, Kowel, Warsaw and Budapest, among others. The author presents an interesting collection of recently discovered professional war photographs showing the material and the men of the Waffen-SS in a wide variety of combat situations.
