The soldiers of the 1st Armoured Division proudly wear the white Saxon steed on a red background in a yellow/white escutcheon on their uniforms as a unit insignia. This is a reminder of the history of the Guelph dukes and the Kingdom of Hanover. With the introduction of Army Structure 4 on 1 April 1981, the division was renamed to the 1st Armoured Division, which is still in use today. The booklet shows the history and the current operational capability of the unit.
