With the formation of readiness and schools of the Border Police and Readiness department ordered in October 1948, the question of the material equipment of these associations arose even then. For their initial equipment, the government of the GDR purchased a wide variety of armoured train and chain vehicles from the USSR. After the formation of the NVA, many new developments and vehicles were added. Part 2 describes on 48 pages the various armoured tractors and tracked vehicles introduced into the NVA over the decades.
