With the establishment of riot units and schools of the "Border Police and Riot Units" department ordered in October 1948, the question of the material equipment of these units already arose at that time. For their initial equipment, the GDR government purchased a wide variety of armoured and tracked vehicles from the USSR. After the NVA was established, many new developments and vehicles were added. This 48-page booklet describes the various armoured towing and tracked vehicles introduced into the NVA over the decades, such as the "Edith" ammunition tractor, the MT-LB multi-purpose transporter tractor in its sub-variants for the NVA, the border troops and other special conversions.
