At the end of 2002, the NATO member states decided to build up a reactive response unit. The concept of a multinational "NATO Response Force" (NRF) served as a basis. Since then, the NRF has a total size of 40,000 soldiers, of which 5,000 are assigned to the VJTF. In the years 2022 to 2024, the VJTF (L) will be provided for the first time by the 10th Armoured Division with the 5000 soldiers of the Armoured Brigade 37 "Free State of Saxony". This booklet describes the armoured brigade 37 "Free State of Saxony" and its subordinate units on their way to the VJTF (L) in the context of the exercise "Wilder Wettiner", which took place in November 2021 on the Altmark military training area. At the same time, you can see here for the first time the tank battalion 393 "The Thuringian Lions" with their new Leopard 2A7V in manoeuvre, which were only delivered to the troops in mid-September 2021.
