67 colour plates from the pen of the Swiss officer and uniform painter Albert von Escher (1833-1905) show the uniforms of Swiss contingents in the service of various Italian states in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Swiss contingents of Savoy, Venice, Naples and the Papal States are represented. The picture plates are preceded by a short information text about the artist's work and his works, which are in the collection of H. J. Vinkhuijzen (1843-1910).
