Volume 12 of the series "Freiburger Studien zur Frühen Neuzeit". With regard to the Swiss-Napolitan war service of the 18th century, hardly any noteworthy findings have been published to date. Due to this research desideratum, a modern, socio-historically inspired basic research is urgently needed. This study focuses on the four Swiss regiments in Neapolitan military service between 1734 (the time of their creation) and 1789 (their dissolution). By means of source-based critical analyses, a subject area hitherto neglected by scholarly historiography is to be addressed and put up for discussion with new aspects on the organisation and structure of the Swiss troops in Naples.
