This is a pictorial volume on the Ohio-class SSBNs and SSGNs, featuring previously unpublished interior photographs by the authorwho was granted rare access to several operational SSBNs. In total, the U.S. Navy's Ohio-class submarines carry approximately half of America's strategic nuclear warheads. The 18 units of the Ohio class are divided into two variants: there are 14 nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) that carry nuclear warheads, as well as 4 guided-missile submarines (SSGNs); the latter were converted from SSBNs to deploy Tomahawk cruise missiles and special forces. Detailed captions accompany the full-color photographs throughout the book.
