With its 140 exclusively colour photographs, this illustrated book offers beautiful impressions of the historic small town of Gettysburg, located in the heart of Pennsylvania, and the landscape surrounding it. The dreamy little town became sadly famous in early July 1863, when the largest and bloodiest battle of the American Civil War raged in its streets and on the surrounding hills and fields. Many of the photographs shown here are, of course, of sites directly associated with the famous battle, such as the Lutheran Theological Seminary, the Gettysburg Military Cemetery, or a selection of the 1400 monuments scattered around the battlefield.
