The Soviet Army was not involved in any major conflicts between the end of the Second World War and the Afghan War, meaning that the early phase of the Cold War has been insufficiently researched. Uniforms, equipment, vehicles and, above all, weapons from this period have never been thoroughly documented. This volume closes that gap. It provides an overview of almost all infantry weapons issued by the Soviet Army after 1945 from war remnants to the latest designs of the Soviet arms industry. Weapon categories covered: pistols, sniper rifles, machine guns, submachine guns, grenade launchers and heavy infantry weapons.
